My client is looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organized and innovative individual with a keen all round interest in all aspects of technology from an MS SQL engineering background with experience of automated build processes for on premise and GCP SQL PaaS production environment.

Their strategic aim is to embrace a service based cloud model and move a large percentage of the in house Windows hosted SQL estate to GCP SQL PaaS to decouple SQL from the complexities, cost and support of the underlying infrastructure and software.

Whilst strong knowledge of MS SQL is needed this role is not suitable for individuals with only DBA support experience as the emphasis is on provisioning and the wider eco system of a production database environment.

Job Description
* Design, develop and record new provisioning and automation systems on premise and GCP cloud
* Retain and improve existing PowerShell scripts and processes
* Assess, test and record new versions and patch revisions of Microsoft SQL Server on a vari-ety of hardware and software platforms
* Provide MS SQL Server technical assistance and guidance for operations, development and project teams
Responsibilities:
* Design, develop and document new provisioning and automation systems on premise and GCP cloud
* Maintain and develop existing PowerShell scripts and processes
* Evaluate, test and document new versions and patch revisions of Microsoft SQL Server on a variety of hardware and software platforms
* Provide MS SQL Server technical support and advice for operations, development and pro-ject teams

Required Skills

• GCP SQL PaaS or AWS RDS / Azure SMI (not IAAS) knowledge
• Experience in related GCP native services including monitoring
• Knowledge of GCP, API based provisioning using IAC concepts
• Strong PowerShell scripting skills
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working with SQL server 2008 to 2016 and later versions in an Engineering role
• Including T-SQL scripting; fault diagnosis and resolution; in depth knowledge of the opti-mizer and engine; performance tuning.
